2016 was tough. We lost legends, we elected a dictator as President, and had our share of world tragedies. However, as always with all the crazy, comes some definitive music for the ages. And there was plenty of it.

In all honesty, I’m stoked. Being a fan of thrash, I loved the direction metal legends Metallica had taken. They brought back the heavy shit, instead of trying to make it more MTV friendly. Huh, wait, MTV doesn’t play music anymore. Nevermind! Bands took risks and metal fans were rewarded with music we’ll be talking about for years to come. Sure there are a lot of “faves” on my list, but they couldn’t be ignored.

At the top of my list is Meshuggah because it got the most playbacks from me. Even my nine year old knows who Meshuggar (her saying it) is.

Instead of telling you why, I listed them. That means it’s up for discussion. Please keep the comments civil and tell me what I’m missing.
